I re-injured my problem back areas during the disc golf camping trip, but in the remainder of my time off I've hit the gym/aquatic center three times already, for workouts and heat therapy (ice pack therapy at home too). My sciatic area muscles are inflamed and strained feeling again, the right shoulder-blade & ribs are crampy & painful also.
But- I had to play! Vacation & stuff! I know I brought this trouble on myself. I've vowed off disc golf for as long as it takes now (up till the Joe Tourney, I hadn't played in 4 months). My back needs work and rehab... I realize a lot of time is needed.
Thursday to Sunday camping was good - I'll let the photos of friends & the scenery speak to that. Nate didn't keep the Joe title this year, but managed to play an awesome game with us after the pressure of the tourney was over. An outdoor freezer at the 18th pin/hole was stocked with ice cream. You'll see a a few shots of little Caleb getting his fudge ice cream facial, Jeron & Shonee are his Mom & Dad pictured with him.
Tuesday to Thursday at the cabin in Lincoln City were relaxing and I needed it. While there, we ended up whale watching at a high-lookout point park along 101, near "Whale Cove" (Between Newport and Depoe Bay). Pete spotted the whale totally by accident, we weren't even there for whales, just to hang out at a nice scenic spot. The only visible shots I got are cropped and included in the photos below, it was a huge humpback relative of some kind, 2 car lengths, easy! The nice thing is we were a good 70-80 feet above, and the whale was swimming in the mini-cove just below us. It was my first in-person sighting of a whale (otherwise TV, Movies, small zoo-whales). It hung around and rode the waves, blowing his spout often which made me think it was a youngster, or it could just an adult enjoying the fun ride in the waves. It might have been hunting up some little krills for all we know.
The next day, before we came home we visited that park again, and though no whales were around, the waterworks show on the rocks was spectacular, and I included those best shots in the slideshow too.
